Introduction
Sukhwinder Singh created his magic by singing the popular dance hit song Chhaiyya Chhaiyya for the Mani Ratnam movie Dil Se in 1998, for which he received the coveted Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer Award. Ever since then, his songs and awards, especially in collaboration with AR Rahman continued to follow with songs like Haule Haule from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), and the ever-popular Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire (2008) which went on to win an Oscar and a Grammy Award.
Early life
Born in Amristsar, Punjab, Sukhwinder started singing from his childhood years. At the age of eight, Sukhwinder took to the stage and sang a Lata Mangeshkar number Sa re ga ma pa, pa, pa, ga ma re, ga re mere sang mere saajna, from the 1970 movie Abhinetri. In the mid 1990’s he went off on a world tour to get himself exposed to the various styles of music. On his return, he released a Punjabi album called Munda Southhall Da with T. Singh and joined Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s troupe to become a music arranger. He then headed off to South India to look for opportunities, where his first film was Rakshagan.
Entry to Bollywood
Sukhwinder’s first song in Bollywood, Aaja Sanam (composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal) in the movie Khilaaf (1991) did not gain much popularity. However, his award winning song Chaiyya Chiayya for the movie Dil Se (1998) was a huge hit. Soon his songs in films like 1947 Earth (1998), Biwi No 1 (1999), Daag (1999), Dillagi (1999), Jaanwar (1999) and Thaksak (1999) proved to be big hits. In the millennium years, he followed it up with hit songs in movies like Moksha (2001) Tere Naam (2003), Musafir (2004), Shabd (2005), Taal (2005), Om Shanti Om (2007), Chak De India(2007) and Black and white (2008). Later, his songs in Dabangg (2010) and Housefull 2(2012) also proved to be popular and soon he became a household name throughout India.
He has also provided playback voice for many Bollywood stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Kunal Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Rohit Roy, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sharukh Khan, Sunny Deol, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Tusshar Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi.
Some of his recent songs like Makhna, Kastoori and Nach Baliye are from the 2014 released movies like Million-Dollar Arm, Izhaar Maine Kiya Nahi and Kahin Hai Mera Pyar respectively.
Collaboration with AR Rahman
Most of his hit songs were in collaborations with AR Rahman, in which the list includes Chhaiyya Chhaiya and Ramta Jogi, Ni Main Samajh Gayee, and Taal Se Taal Mila from the movie Taal. His other hit songs with AR Rahman include Ruth Aa Gayee Re, Raat Ki Daldal Hain and Yeh Jo Zindagi Hain from Earth and Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai from Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, Aayo Re Sakhi, Bhangari Morori and Piya Ho from the movie Water in 2005.
His song Ruth Aa Chinnamma Chilakkamma for the film Meenaxi (2005) also proved to be popular. One of his other hit song was Thok De Killi from the 2010 movie Raavan. His most popular song with AR Rahman was Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire. He also went on to record a couple of Tamil songs for AR Rahman like Lucky Lucky for Ratchagan (1997) and Thiruvallikkeri Rani for the 2004 movie Udhaya.
Two of his Awards like the Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer Award for Chhaiyya Chhaiyya and Jai Ho were also in collaboration with AR Rahman. Mohit Chauhan is an Indian singer, (b. 11 March 1966, Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, India), most known for his work as a playback singer for Bollywood films as well as the former frontman of the indipop band Silk Route. After completing his education in Himachal Pradesh, Chauhan came to Delhi where he formed the band Silk Route in 1996.The band released two albums, Boondein and Pehchan before getting dissolved and in 2008 Chauhan released the solo album Kalam, for which he composed and sung. Early Life
Riteish Deshmukh was born in Latur, Maharashtra and is the son of Late. Vilasrao Deshmukh, the former Union Minister for Science, Technology, and Earth Sciences, Government of India, and the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He studied at G. D. Somani High School, Mumbai, following which he went on to acquire a degree in architecture from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies. Deshmukh shifted to New York City after graduation and studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

Acting Career
Deshmukh debuted with K. Vijaya Bhaskar`s Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003) with his later to be wife Genelia D`Souza. The movie bombed at the box office and failed to garner much appreciation. His next movie was Out Of Control, which also received a lukewarm response. His claim to fame was the 2004 adult comedy film, Masti, co-starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Amrita Rao, and Genelia D`Souza. The movie was a blockbuster and Riteish won an IIFA Award in the Best Comedian category for it. In the same year, he appeared in Bardaasht and Naach, both of them being box office duds. .
In 2005, Riteish Deshmukh appeared in the super hit sex comedy, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, alongside Tusshar Kapoor. The film though commercially successful was severely criticized by the critics. He then appeared in a series of successful comedy films like Malamaal Weekly, Apna Sapna Money Money, Bluffmaster!, Heyy Babyy, Dhamaal and De Taali. Deshmukh, by now had earned a strong foothold in the Bollywood film industry via his comic roles.
Riteish Deshmukh had three releases in 2009 namely, Aladin, Rann and Do knot disturb. All three films failed to generate any positive reviews amongst the audiences and critics alike. In 2010, he starred in the commercial hit, Housefull. Directed by Sajid Khan, the movie also had Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal, and Jiah Khan, playing the lead roles. He then starred in another sequel, Grand Masti, which failed to woo the critics, but was commercially a success. 2014 proved to be a game changer for Deshmukh as he played his first negative role on screen in Ek Villain. The movie, which also starred Siddharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor in important roles was a commercial and critical hit, and Deshmukh was applauded for his spectacular act. Besides this, he also made his acting debut in Marathi cinema the same year with the action film Lai Bhaari.
In 2016, he was seen in third installments of the Housefull and Masti series, Housefull 3 and Great Grand Masti. Housefull 3 went on to become a commercial success, however, Great Grand Masti suffered a blow at the box office since the movie was leaked online much before its release. Next, he was cast alongside Nargis Fakhri in the musical drama Banjo, where he essayed the role of Taraat, a local Banjo player attempting to make it big in the music scene with his band. The movie, however, did not wow the audience and was declared a flop upon its release.
The next year, in 2017, he appeared in Y-Films` comedy thriller Bank Chor, where he shared screen space with his Masti co-star Vivek Oberoi. His other projects for the year include the sequel to his 2014 action drama Lai Bhari titled Mauli. Riteish`s 2019 release includes Total Dhamaal, Housefull 4, and Marjaavaan.
